Help shape your professional organization. Membership involvement and input is vitally important to CEA's daily activity. As a member of a CEA commission or committee, you can share your ideas and be a part of the process.

CEA Commissions CEA Committees
Commission for Instruction and Professional Development
Examines educational and professional development issues and develops policies, activities, and materials to assist CEA members.
Constitution Revision
Reviews the Constitution and Bylaws and submits proposed changes to the CEA Board of Directors.
Human & Civil Rights Commission (HCR)
Proposes policies and activities which support advancing racial, economic, and gender equity in Connecticut public schools and within CEA.
Elections Committee
Reviews and enforces all CEA election procedures and policies including the certification of candidates.
Legislative Commission
Develops CEA's legislative agenda based on a review of CEA's issues, positions, and priorities that would improve the quality of education in Connecticut.
Finance Committee
Reviews all financial matters relating to CEA's operation including policies and annual budget development.
Minority Affairs Commission (MAC)
Promotes ethnic minority participation in all areas of CEA by mentoring, providing training, encouraging delegate participation, and publishing a Minority Concerns Newsletter.

Membership Training Conference Committee
Plans, develops, and coordinates events, programs, and leadership training activities for CEA members (i.e. Summer Leadership, CEA/NEA Orientation, New Teacher Program).

Public Relations Commission
Develops and implements plans to deal with issues CEA is facing (Teacher Retirement, Vouchers, Education Funding, Indoor Air Quality, No Child Left Behind, Binding Arbitration).
RA Planning Committee
Plans and coordinates all activities relating to the CEA and NEA Representative Assemblies.
Retirement Commission
Monitors the State Teachers' Retirement System, the State Treasurers' Investment Advisory Council, legislation concerning retirement issues, and provides CEA's Retirement Workshops.
Resolutions Committee
Reviews existing CEA resolutions (statements of organizational belief pertaining to the profession), proposed new resolutions to the CEA Representative Assembly, and provides input to the NEA about NEA resolutions.
Special Services Commission
Reviews, endorses, and monitors CEA member benefit programs (insurance, credit cards, TSA, members discounts).

Student Program – Assists in organizing and promoting effective local student affiliates by providing training, information and support to future teachers in Connecticut.

UniServ Evaluation – The Connecticut Education Association is required by action of the CEA Representative Assembly to evaluate the UniServ Program every three years. The committee consists of one representative from each UniServ Unit. The basic task of the committee is to assess the programs and services that are provided to local associations through the UniServ Program and to make recommendations regarding programs and staffing.
