Are you too busy teaching to relax, have some fun, and talk with others in the profession about life as a teacher? Now’s the chance. It’s not a conference, it’s not a faculty meeting. It’s the Teachers’ Lounge — a new teacher network sponsoring events in West Hartford and Norwalk this week and next. And it’s a great way to kick off a spring night out.
“We recognize that all teachers, but newer members in particular, need to have the support of colleagues who are experiencing the same things they are,” CEA Educational Issues Specialist Michele Ridolfi O’Neill said.
“As a former teacher myself, I remember how hard those first years could sometimes be,” O’Neill continued. “We want to offer members networking opportunities to connect with teachers from nearby districts who they might not otherwise have the chance to meet.”
The Teachers’ Lounge events are $10 per person, which includes appetizers and a drink coupon. There are two:
Thursday, May 30, 5-7 p.m.
McLadden’s
37 Lasalle Road, West Hartford
Thursday, June 6, 5-7 p.m.
Bradford’s Grill and Tavern
15 North Main Street, Norwalk
Teachers who attended the first Teachers’ Lounge, which took place this year at the CEA New Teacher Conference, highly recommend their colleagues come to the events in West Hartford and Norwalk.
