The first day of CEA’s Summer Leadership Conference was a great experience for the teachers attending. Below some participants share what they enjoy about Summer Leadership and what they’re hoping to learn in the workshop tracks they’re taking.
Eric Feeney, Kingsbury School, Waterbury
“Summer Leadership provides an excellent opportunity to learn and network . The tracks are educational and informative. The people are wonderful.”
Leonille Kadambaya, Fitch High School, Groton
“I will learn a lot from my two workshops, Teachers and the Law and Current Issues in Public Education. I also enjoyed the Minority Leadership Conference yesterday. All of the above will make me grow professionally and become a better teacher.”
Jessica Bialobrzski, Valley Regional High School, Regional District 4
“I am here because I joined my local association as secretary for my County Council this year. I am enrolled in the mentoring track, and hope to learn skills that will benefit me and teachers new to my district.”
Marcia Ferreira, Langford Elementary, East Hartford
“I would love to learn the technology skills our local needs to keep up and stay updated with new technology.”

Summer Leadership is a wonderful place to learn and think about all the issues that impact us as local leaders. It is a great place to put names and faces to some of the people and resources that are available to us as we continue to deal with the ever changing role of educating children.
True about the networking aspect of CEA’s Summer Leadership. It is always great to connect with teachers from other districts and meet new friends. Summer Leadership also has made me aware of the many issues that teachers are/will be facing.
Workshops are always excellent! It’s a great opportunity to network with colleagues, learn new skills, find out what’s happening with CEA and NEA and to top it off, be pampered for a couple of days with comfy rooms and delicious meals!
I am learning lots of power point and Excel. The Excel will help me organize and analyze data. The Power Point will be for all those great productions everyone loves to watch, right?
Fun people and great food top my list here. The learning is natural with such a supportive community.
I am attending the Technology workshop. It has been a great experience. I learned a lot, and I get CEUs!
The leadership conference has been very rewarding. I’ve gotten to socialize with my colleagues, meet new people in my profession, and I am learning a lot (and earning valuable CEU’s).
I had a wonderful time and learned sooooo much. Thanks a million.
I love Summer Leadership. I always learn something new, meet new people and see old friends. What’s better than that? I recommend the technology track. It was fun and entertaining!
Summer Leadership was a wonderful experience once again. The technology workshop was quite interesting.
It is helpful to talk to colleagues from other locals to get information about issues that they face giving me better perspective on the issues that my local is facing. It helps me get ready to go back to school with a positive attitude!
The workshop on The New Communications Toolbox was a fabulous track! I would absolutely recommend this track to anyone that was interested in learning how to do a blog, webpage, or newsletter.
The workshop, “New Communications Toolbox: Traditional Newsletters and Much More,” was excellent, especially the second day, which was taught by Melanie. She was a good teacher and gave excellent handouts that we may now go back and use on our own. This is the second year I have attended technology tracks taught by this same computer group, and I have learned invaluable skills; please keep offering these technology tracks. Great job, CEA!
I learned a lot in my 2 day workshop. I’m very curious about setting up a basic site for our local and feel pretty confident that I can do a newsletter as well! The training both days had a great pace & seemed good for newbies & more advanced users…that’s unusual! I always like handouts to follow along with, so Tuesday’s publisher workshop was easy to take notes on.
My first time at Summer Leadership was wonderful. It was a great experience to spend time with other professionals in education from all over the state. I especially enjoyed learning to use Microsoft Publisher during the New Communications Toolbox workshop. Mike Lydick and Melanie Scheibenpflug shared great information, tools, and support that I will certainly be able to use… and I can’t wait to get started! Thank you CEA – I look forward to attending Summer Leadership next year already!
