Every home in the United States is now eligible to order four free, at-home COVID-19 tests. The tests are completely free—there are no shipping costs, and orders will usually ship in 7-12 days.
The Omicron wave has begun to retreat in the Northeast; however, COVID is still infecting thousands of Connecticut residents every day. Connecticut recently opened its 26th state-sponsored testing site, and another six sites are scheduled to open across the state by the end of the month.
As of January 15, health insurance companies are required to cover the cost of up to eight at-home, over-the-counter COVID-19 tests per month.
Currently, at-home testing with an FDA approved COVID-19 test kit can be used by unvaccinated school staff to comply with the state’s weekly testing requirements.
Free masks
White House officials have also said that the Biden administration will make 400 million N95 masks available for free at locations across the country such as pharmacies and community health centers. Shipments will begin this week, and officials hope to have the program fully underway by the beginning of February.
