Contact Members of Congress: DeVos Wrong Choice to Lead Dept. of Education

Confirmation hearings for Betsy DeVos, Donald Trump’s pick for U.S. secretary of education, begin Wednesday, January 11.

Urge members of Congress who will be voting on DeVos’ nomination not to approve her for this position for these and other key reasons:

• Betsy DeVos has no training or experience in public education.
• Like Donald Trump, she is an ardent supporter of “school choice” privatization schemes—despite a complete lack of evidence that privatizing public schools produces better education outcomes.
• She has invested millions of dollars lobbying for laws that drain resources from public schools.
• DeVos has fought against the regulation of charter schools.
• She is not a good fit for a position overseeing the civil rights of all students.
