This August through September, the Connecticut State Department of Education is offering a free Paraeducator Preparation Academy that includes six weeks of in-person instruction with Spanish language assistance, test preparation materials, test-fee waivers, and mentorship following program completion—all at no cost.
This initiative supports Connecticut’s efforts to address the statewide paraeducator shortage by preparing aspiring candidates to successfully complete the ParaPathways assessment and enter the workforce.
Enrollment is limited to the first 25 registrants. Once capacity is reached, additional applicants will be added to a wait list. Participants must be at least 18 with a high school diploma or equivalent and have fewer than two years of college experience.
- The first session will be offered from August 17 – September 23, Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Leaders for Educational Advocacy and Diversity (LEAD) Center, 1064 Main Street, East Hartford
