A Stamford third-grader is a finalist in the Doodle 4 Google contest, and your vote could help him win a $30,000 scholarship and a $50,000 Google for Education technology grant for his school.
Jason E. Rosado is in Audra Greer’s class at Hart Magnet Elementary School in Stamford. In response to Google’s invitation to draw what he would create “if I could invent one thing to make the world a better place…” he drew what he calls a “Time Extender.”
“I would invent a machine to slow down time so we can have longer days. It would float in space and put a force field around Earth to slow down Earth’s rotation,” wrote Rosado.
Doodle 4 Google is a national art competition open to all students K-12 in the United States to create their own Google doodle. One student from each state has been selected as a finalist by a panel of judges.
At a school assembly yesterday, Google officials unveiled a life-size copy of Rosado’s doodle and named him the Connecticut state winner. In addition to winning an Android tablet and a t-shirt printed with his doodle’s artwork, Rosado also earned a trip to Google headquarters in California to celebrate with the other state winners in May, and the chance to compete for the national title.
Public voting will decide a national finalist from each grade group − one of whom will be named the national winner. In addition to the monetary award, the winner’s doodle will appear on the Google.com homepage.
You can vote for Jason Rosado’s doodle here. Public voting ends May 9.
