On Sunday, June 8, teachers, other union members, and social justice activists from across Connecticut will gather on the New Haven Green for a powerful rally in support of union rights and civil liberties.
As union members, we know that real change happens when we show up—loud, proud, and united.
Date: Sunday, June 8, 2025
Time: 12:30 PM
Location: New Haven Green
“Right now, unions and all organizations of working people are under unprecedented assault. Recently the federal government eliminated the collective bargaining rights of more than five percent of all unionized workers, and that’s just in the first three or four months of this administration,” says CREC teacher Daniel Piper.
He adds that free speech rights are also imperative for educators.
“We need these rights because as teachers we have to speak for a living, and we are public figures,” Piper says. “We need to be out and involved in struggles, like on June 8, defending our right to free speech, to protest, and to organize.”
Piper encourages all CEA members to come out to be seen, be heard, and be part of the movement to support union rights and civil liberties.
Wear your union gear. Bring your colleagues. Bring your passion.
Let’s fill the Green with educators who believe in the power of union solidarity.
