Social studies teachers shape how students understand their role in our democracy—and there’s a national opportunity to recognize that impact.
The American Civic Education Teacher Awards, presented by the Center for Civic Education, the Center on Representative Government at Indiana University, and the National Education Association, celebrate outstanding educators who bring civics, government, and public policy to life in their classrooms. If you teach about the U.S. Constitution, Congress, or how pubic policy decisions are made at the state and local levels, this is your chance to be recognized for the important work you do every day.
Elementary through high school educators are encouraged to apply, with a strong emphasis on uplifting voices from diverse backgrounds and rural communities. The three awardees will present at the National Council for the Social Studies Annual Conference in Chicago this December and gain access to additional leadership opportunities. The application deadline is May 31—don’t miss your chance to shine a national spotlight on your work.
