Join teachers across the state for a conference on Thursday, May 16, titled Boldly Reimagining Our Schools: Nurturing Genius and Joy. The day-long event at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield features eleven breakout sessions led by teacher leaders and others in the education field.
The day is hosted by the Teacher Leader Fellowship Academy at Sacred Heart University, Farrington College of Education and Human Development, with support from CEA. The academy provides professional development, collaboration, and support to help educators further expand their skills and be effective leaders.
The keynote speaker is Dr. Gholdy Muhammad, an associate professor of Literacy, Language, and Culture at the University of Illinois Chicago. She studies Black historical excellence within educational communities with goals of reframing curriculum and instruction today and will give remarks titled Cultivating Genius and Joy in Education through Culturally and Historically Responsive Pedagogies.
Multiple breakout sessions led by TLFA fellows are being offered on topics including:
- student engagement,
- play-based learning,
- AI for teaching and learning, and
- sparking confidence and joy in our classrooms.
