What would raising teacher salaries, providing a COVID credit, and restoring good faith to the DCF mandated reporting process mean to you?
Make sure legislators hear directly from their teacher constituents about these issues and more by joining us for CEA’s Lobby Day this Wednesday, April 17. Come up to Hartford after school—or if you’re on break this week, come whenever you’re free.
Talking with your legislators is essential to ensure they understand why teachers’ priorities must get over the finish line.
Teachers and aspiring educators attending a CEA conference recently shared why raising salaries would make a big difference to their lives. Some of their comments include the following.
“Knowing that I will be able to survive off of a livable wage when I graduate is crucial to me. The security it will provide will allow me the peace to live and work where I want.”
“It would help ease so much stress that teachers feel when entering the field. We would be able to focus on our classrooms instead of a second job.”
“It would help me not have to have three other jobs!”
“As someone coming into teaching as a second career it would help pay for my master’s at a time when I am family planning, purchasing a home, etc. Raising salaries would also contribute to a better work environment by promoting teacher retention.”
“I’d be able to live without roommates, purchase a reliable car, and not work two to three jobs on nights/weekends.”
Make sure legislators hear from you, too. Join us this Wednesday.
