Connecticut Teachers: Giving their best every day is the tagline for a new public relations campaign from CEA. The aim of the campaign is to promote the important work teachers do, especially in a climate of dwindling resources and increased demands. Teachers are continuously improving, adapting, and innovating. They’re leading change and improvement in our public schools.
The ads started to air this weekend on Connecticut television stations. They take a creative technique called a “misdirect.” The viewer is drawn into the ad thinking its focus is on students when, in fact, the focus turns out to be on the teacher.
Six CEA members volunteered their time to be part of the ad campaign. David Abate teaches in Hamden, Maggie Barkin teaches in Woodbridge, Henry Muñoz teaches for CREC in Bloomfield, Lauren Galiette teaches in Naugatuck, Faith Sweeney teaches in Greenwich, and Margo Walerysiak teaches in West Hartford.
