CEA is pleased to announce its newest Member Benefits partnership. The state’s largest teachers union has joined forces with the Connecticut Whale, of the Premier Hockey Federation, to provide CEA members with discounted access to professional women’s hockey at the Danbury Ice Arena.
“PHF is an exciting, up-and-coming North American league,” says Jessie Oram, director of ticket sales for the Connecticut Whale. A former college athlete, elementary school teacher, and literacy specialist in Australia, Oram says, “I have such great respect for the teaching profession, our unions, and our public schools.”
The roster for the Connecticut Whale, she adds, includes elite female athletes who are passionate about the sport and who earn their living as full-time educators, healthcare professionals, and more.
To encourage support for the state’s only professional women’s hockey team—as well as acknowledge teachers for all their hard work before and during this pandemic—Oram says she is pleased to offer deeply discounted seats to CEA members for the entire 2021-2022 home season.
“I have done this in the past with other unions,” she says, “and I have found union members to be excited to take advantage of these discounts. Come see the Connecticut Whale play!”
“With venues reopening safely, we’re happy to be working again with our longtime CEA Member Benefits partners as well as adding new ones, like the Connecticut Whale,” says CEA Director of Communications and Member Benefits Nancy Andrews. “These are important relationships and ways of recognizing our hardworking teachers. Supporting women’s professional sports also speaks to our profession, which is largely dominated by women.”
CEA members receive 35% off the price of tickets to any home game with promo code. All home games are played on Saturdays and Sundays beginning November 13, 2021, and running until March 13, 2022.
