In Connecticut and all across the country, educators have been answering the call to run for public office. They are filling seats on town councils, boards of education, state legislatures, and more—so that when decisions come up that affect their classrooms, they have a seat at the table.
Have you ever thought about representing your colleagues and community in state or local politics? Want to know more about what it takes and how to get there?
CEA is here to provide the support you need to succeed, and NEA’s all-expenses-paid See Educators Run program can get you started. The next training takes place the weekend of December 1-3 in Phoenix, Arizona, and curriculum focuses on
- How to prepare to become a candidate for office
- The nuts and bolts of running a campaign
- Creating your stump speech and communicating effectively with voters
- Fundraising basics
- Tips for recruiting volunteers and running a field operation
- Dealing with opposition and attacks
NEA’s See Educators Run program is for members planning to run for office in the next 24 months. Travel and other costs are covered, and the deadline to apply is Sunday, October 1.
