Legislators may vote on a new state budget this week. A new plan unveiled by Governor Malloy would lessen the school funding cuts that were part of his executive order, but it would also impose new cuts on cities and towns that will impact school budgets.
Contact your legislators and urge them to pass a state budget before the Oct. 1 deadline to avoid cuts in the Governor’s executive order that would strip $557 million in education funding in 139 districts.
Tell legislators to pass a state budget as soon as possible that:
- Protects local school budgets and the education of all children
- Maintains critical services for families and communities
- Provides for a reliable revenue stream to cure the state’s chronic underfunding of public schools
