What’s new for Connecticut teachers this school year?
“As we head into this school year, what’s so exciting, is there are so many opportunities to bring some changes into our classrooms that we might not have had previously,” CEA Vice President Joslyn DeLancey shared in a discussion with President Kate Dias in the latest episode of CEA’s podcast, Two T’s in a Pod.
The two said some of the changes educators will note include improvements to teacher evaluation, play-based learning in preschool and elementary schools, a new, older kindergarten start age, and the reintroduction of good-faith protections in DCF reporting laws.
“There’s a lot of room for self advocacy, and if things don’t seem right and it doesn’t feel like things are changing at your school, make sure you reach out to your local association,” DeLancey said.
