Keynote speaker Jed Dearybury (pictured at right) will discuss the power of play, and breakout sessions developed by educators for educators will center on practical strategies for balancing technology and human-centered learning.

A 13-year classroom educator, Milken fellow, and South Carolina honoree of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching, Dearybury teaches higher-education courses in children’s literature, creativity and play for early childhood, and fine arts in the elementary school. His books include The Playful Classroom: The Power of Play for All Ages, Courageous Classroom (written with Dr. Janet Taylor), and The Playful Life: The Power of Play in Our Everyday.
The conference is free for members of sponsoring organizations and includes continental breakfast and lunch.
This is the third annual event and is sponsored by CEA, the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents, the Connecticut Association of Schools, the Teacher Leader Fellowship Program at Sacred Heart University, and the Connecticut Education Foundation, with support from CABE, ASCD-CT, and others.
