Educators leave an indelible mark through their encouragement, their expertise, and the relationships they form with their students. Adults across all professions credit their teachers with who they are today.
This Teacher Appreciation Week, CEA staff are sharing their own Because of a Teacher stories and offering up memories of the teachers who helped them get where they are today.
CEA Meetings, Marketing, and Member Benefits Coordinator Molly Ferguson explains that she struggled in math throughout elementary and middle school. “And then junior year arrived, and I had to take the SATs. I knew that I was going to struggle, so Mr. Stirling tutored me along side UConn basketball players with his own study method. It wasn’t easy, and it was because of him I had even a decent SAT math score.”
Ferguson went on to get her MBA, and in her current job at CEA much of her day-to-day work in events and marketing includes budgeting and estimating. “I’ve never forgotten about the Lyme-Old Lyme teachers who encouraged me to succeed,” she says.
