As an educator you’ve seen firsthand how students’ mental health has suffered under the combined weight of a global pandemic, the twin challenges of underserved communities and underresourced schools, attacks on public schools that are political and physical, and everything in between.
Chances are, you are more than a witness. Surveys overwhelmingly show that teachers bear these same burdens and are burning out in record numbers.
Don’t go it alone.
Help is readily available at no cost through CEA’s partnership with Positive Directions, a nonprofit organization offering free group counseling for public school educators in a virtual setting. Trained clinical professionals facilitate honest conversations and provide healing strategies to foster wellness and avoid burnout.
Topics in past sessions have included anxiety, the difficulties of managing intense student behaviors, the added stress of being an early-career teacher, and more. Positive Directions offers a safe, therapeutic environment for educators to share what they’re going through.
The first session of the year is starting up and runs on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Space is limited.
