Statement from CEA President Jeff Leake
This past year has been the hardest one that many of us have ever experienced. Educators have faced countless challenges. You have surmounted so many obstacles and gone well beyond what anyone could have expected of you.
You’ve been there for your students all along the way, working hard to keep them safe. You have stood up for your students and found creative ways to connect with them and make sure they always know you are there for them.
Your dedication has ensured that your students have a promising future. That’s why students, families, and communities are coming together this Teacher Appreciation Week to say thank you—thank you so much for all you do.
If this year were a marathon, we’d be in the final mile. Teachers are exhausted, but if we keep up our fight for safe, equitable schools with enough resources for all students to thrive, we can cross the finish line together.
We would not be here today without you. We are truly stronger together. Thank you.
