‘The Big Seven’: Strategies for Healthy Emotion Regulation in Uncertain Times

In uncertain times, it is easy to feel out of balance emotionally. Join Dr. Marc Brackett, director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, for a webinar on helpful emotion regulation strategies. Dr. Brackett will discuss how we can address some of the unhelpful ways we deal with our emotions and use evidence-based strategies to achieve greater overall well-being.
The Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence conducts research and offers training that supports people of all ages in developing emotional intelligence and the skills to thrive and contribute to society. The Center works with district and school leaders and educators to support the systemic implementation of social and emotional learning (SEL) and foster SEL skills in all stakeholders.
The goal of the Center’s work is leveraging emotions to create healthier and more equitable, innovative, and compassionate communities. RULER is the school-based approach to SEL developed at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence that is being implemented in over 200 Connecticut schools.
Serenity Now: Yoga for Teachers – with Yoga Culture Studio

Strengthen, stretch, and destress in this yoga class designed for teachers. We’ll work out the kinks from sitting at a screen for long hours. Put your overworked, overthinking brain aside and experience the joy of movement.
We’ll start by moving on the waves of breath, which is an awesomely soothing activity, and then spend time on yoga poses, aligning the body for evenness and harmony as we explore sensations of grounding, balancing, lifting, opening, and finding solace. Modifications are offered to attempt to meet all levels of experience.
Short meditations and breathing techniques to calm the mind round out our physical practice. Watch yourself transform from frazzled to serene.
Managing Difficult Moments with Mindfulness Strategies

The COVID-19 crisis is causing increased stress and anxiety for everyone. For teachers, particularly those with children of their own, this period is especially challenging, as they struggle to balance distance learning, concern for their students’ emotional well-being, and their own caretaking responsibilities at home.
This online workshop offers simple, practical strategies for managing stress, including breathing exercises to reduce anxiety and improve sleep, basic yoga stretches to alleviate muscle tension, and short meditation practices to improve concentration and emotional well-being.
The workshop also includes quick, fun mindfulness activities teachers can use online or at home to help children refocus their attention, calm anxiety, and release built-up physical energy.

In this workshop, participants learn how to keep information private and ensure that they are as protected as possible in an expanding digital environment. Best practices for using online learning platforms will also be discussed.

This session covers rubrics, grading, and collaborating with Google Classroom. Included are key features of Google Classroom’s assessment tools as well as creative ways to promote collaboration in an online environment.
