CEA sends condolences to the family and friends of Sharon Palmer, former AFT Connecticut president, labor commissioner, and East Haddam and Waterford teacher, on her recent passing.
Other than during her time with the army as a teacher in Germany, Palmer was a lifelong Connecticut resident who served as AFT Connecticut vice president and president from 1989 through 2012, and as labor commissioner for the State of Connecticut from 2012 to 2015.
CEA worked closely with AFT Connecticut during Palmer’s tenure as president, as we continue to do today.
“We will miss Sharon’s passion for education and the Connecticut labor community,” said CEA President Jeff Leake. “She was a champion for labor and a dedicated partner working for teachers.”
