Legislative leaders are still considering a proposal to shift the cost of teacher retirement onto cities and towns, With only weeks left of the legislative session, they need to hear from you.
If this plan passes, there will be less money for our schools and higher property taxes (especially in middle-income towns and Alliance districts). Districts with more experienced teachers will be penalized.
Every school district, even in the most affluent community, has students who lack some of the resources they need, and CEF—through events like the annual golf tournament—provides a helping hand. Often, CEF steps in to assist families in an emergency, such as a South Windsor family who lost most of their possessions in a fire. Since its inception in 1994, Hands Across the Green has raised over $700,000 for children across the state.
Act now to stop the cost shift.
