“It brings out the best in me when I think of my teachers,” Alice Lam, a cardiovascular registered nurse, shared with her former physics teacher Kristen Record. It’s a sentiment to warm any teacher’s heart, and one that many adults agree with as they think back on their years in public schools.
Lam told Record that the power of patience and kindness that she saw modeled by her teachers is something she uses everyday in her own work with patients.
“The best learning happens when you build significant and meaningful relationships,” said Record. “For me, getting to watch Alice grow all through high school and then being able to maintain a relationship with her as she navigated college and then entered the workforce, that’s the best gift you can give a teacher.”
