Channel 3 is kicking off teacher appreciation week this Sunday at 8:30 a.m. with an interview with two CEA members. Tune in Sunday morning to CT ’23 to hear from Bloomfield teacher and local association president Gail Jorden and Manchester teacher Katie Grant.
“It’s so important to recognize teachers these days because we are going through so much,” Jordan told Channel 3. “Showing teachers appreciation for what they’ve been through and what they continue to go through is a huge piece to retain and recruit new teachers to the profession.”
“This profession, though it’s the best job a person could have, is exhausting, mentally, emotionally, physically,” says Grant.
Grant said that she’s seeing a high level of stress among her colleagues, and even among aspiring educators studying to become teachers. “A lot of them are worried about the profession they’re going to be entering into in a couple of years.”
