American Education Week, an annual observance honoring students, educators, and parents, takes place November 17–21. It’s a time to celebrate the power of public education and the partnerships that make it possible—educators, families, and communities all working together to ensure every student can thrive.
Every day, educators see how meaningful connections with parents and communities strengthen our schools. When we collaborate—sharing ideas, resources, and support—we help students overcome challenges and open the door to greater opportunities for learning and growth.
“As educators, we know that student success doesn’t happen in isolation,” says CEA President Kate Dias. “It takes teachers, parents, and community members working hand in hand to create the supportive environments our students need. Together, we build stronger schools, stronger communities, and brighter futures.”
Each year, American Education Week takes place the week before Thanksgiving. First celebrated in 1921, it continues to highlight the importance of public education and the collective responsibility we all share in nurturing the next generation.
This week, we honor our students’ determination to learn, recognize the professionalism and dedication of teachers, support staff, and all school employees, thank the parents and community members who stand beside them, and rededicate ourselves to ensuring quality public education for every student.
