Talking to other educators from across the state, listening to different perspectives, and discussing how unions help teachers with the issues they face every day were some of the highlights of taking part in a CEA campaign for Tolland Education Association President Kristen Deliman Grabowski.
Deliman Grabowski and East Hartford Education Association President Paul Apostalon are among seven members who took part in CEA’s new Because of Our Union campaign, and they recently talked about their own whys of union membership with CEA President Kate Dias and Vice President Joslyn DeLancey on CEA’s Two T’s in a Pod podcast.
“The thing about unionism that is so special is that you get out if it the work that you put into it,” says DeLancey. “To ensure a strong union, members need to know about the opportunities for them to become involved and ensure their union is strong, flexible, and creative. That’s how we make sure we get the best working conditions and and the best communities in our schools.”
