With just over a month to go in the 2025 legislative session, now is the time to make sure our legislators hear from the people who know education best—educators.
This coming week provides opportunities on April 30—CEA Lobby Day, and May 1—International Workers’ Day, to take action in support of teachers and public education.
Legislators are debating a number of bills that would raise educators’ salaries, pay student teachers, provide a fairer process for teacher termination, improve special education services, and more. Don’t let these decisions be made without your voice. Together, we can shape the future of public education in our state.
Whether you have a minute, an hour, or a full day, there’s a way for you to get involved and make a difference.
- Got 1 minute? Send a quick email to your legislators. Just a few lines can make a huge impact. Take action.
- Got 5 minutes? Make a phone call. Let legislators and their staff hear the passion in your voice. Look up your legislators.
- Got an hour? Join us on May 1 at a rally for unions and public education—your presence will speak volumes. Rallies are taking place at 10:30 a.m. at Bushnell Park in Hartford and 5 p.m. on the New Haven Green. Let us know if you plan to attend one of the rallies. May Day Rally Signup.
- Got more time? Be part of something bigger. Attend CEA Lobby Day at the State Capitol on April 30 and speak directly to legislators alongside fellow educators about what matters most to you. Lobby Day runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and we hope you can join us after school. Register for Lobby Day.
The legislative session ends June 4. We can’t afford to let these opportunities pass without showing our strength and unity.
Let’s flood the Capitol with teachers wearing #RedforEd, sharing their stories, voices, and action. Public education is worth fighting for—and it starts with you.
