Connecticut’s 2019 Teacher of the Year Sheena Graham, a Bridgeport music teacher, joined teachers from New York and New Jersey on CBS This Morning to share concerns about schools’ ability to manage the coronavirus spread.
Graham said she is grateful to the Georgia student who posted the photo of a crowded high school hallway.
“I think that there’s a misconception that everything is organized, and we all know what we’re doing, and the kids are going to come back and everything’s going to be resolved,” she said. “And that young lady, by posting that picture, said, ‘Things are not what they seem to be.'”
Brooklyn, New York teacher Matt Baker said that he and many in his school community got sick with COVID last spring. One of his colleagues died. “It was awful. The risks if we mess this up are literally life and death,” he said.
