Show your support for public education on Tuesday, March 4, by wearing red to draw attention to the urgent need for investments in education.
CEA leaders will be holding a news conference at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford, and you can show your support from the classroom. By standing together we can support education and advocate for investments to address Connecticut’s most pressing educational priorities, urging lawmakers to prioritize adequate funding for education at both the state and federal levels.
CEA’s legislative priorities this year include increasing special education funding, ensuring competitive salaries for teachers, addressing the teacher shortage crisis, and putting real resources where our priorities are so we can address the most pressing challenges and ensure our public education system delivers for all of our students.
The Day of Action is part of a broader, nationwide initiative drawing attention to the damaging consequences of dismantling the U.S. Department of Education and slashing federal education funding—decisions that would negatively impact millions of students nationwide and could cost the state over $321 million in federal education funding.
CEA is encouraging everyone—students, parents, educators, administrators, community members, lawmakers, and members of the media—to wear red in solidarity and show their support for the fight to protect our public schools. Share your photos, wearing Red for Ed, on social media with the hashtag #ProtectOurKids or send them directly to CEA at info@cea.org.
