Are you affected by the Government Pension Offset (GPO) or the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP)? These are the laws that affect those of us who are eligible to receive Social Security either through our own work history or through spousal benefits. The GPO/WEP can take away up to two-thirds of our Social Security benefits. If we had worked in the private sector, we could have paid into Social Security and into private pension plans and receive 100% of the benefits. Have you been affected?
