In a back-to-school press conference last week, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, joined by CEA President Kate Dias and other education leaders and advocates, called for federal tax credits of up to $15,000 for educators as well as other financial assistance that would put money back in educators’ pockets.

Two of the state’s largest school districts welcomed hundreds of educators into the fold during new teacher orientations this week, and union leaders were on hand to explain the joy and benefits of membership.
In a conference room at Goodwin University in Hartford, new teachers were welcomed into the union by CEA staff with swag bags and were invited to engage openly, asking questions, sharing experiences, and discovering how the union will stand beside them as they begin their teaching journeys.
